Hailing From: Centerville, Texas U.S.A.

Throwing Since: 2007

James may tell you he is best known for his sense of humor, but this is outmatched by his cache of skills and talents. Both a stunt man and an actor, James has led a prolific throwing career, having competed in every style and category our sport has. While he loves and may be best known for his elite Fast Draw abilities, he excels immensely in the Rotational Knife and Mountain Man Games categories. With 17 years of throwing experience, Sasquatch traces his beginnings to the 2007 Cold Steel Challenge held at their headquarters in Ventura, California. However, his first true, multi-day knife and tomahawk tournament was the 2012 IKTHOF tournament in Blanco, Texas. After that, he tells us that he was “hooked ever since”.

When it comes to influences, he says there’s more than can be counted, but a few certainly stand out, “I have so many that have helped and inspired me over the years but my good friend Anthony De Longis was the person who taught me rotational throwing and told me I needed to go to an IKTHOF event. After going to my first event, I was able to watch so many great athletes, and legends of the sport, throw. Then, to get first hand help from Pat Minter, Mike Bainton, Cliff “AWOL” Hill and others while we were throwing was truly inspirational”. Having such an extensive Sports Throwing history, it comes as no surprise that JW has been playing the Aim Games from the very beginning. He tells us, “ What I like most about the aim games is how they are challenging for everyone and you are competing against people from all over the world. The focus it instills in you will translate to all throwing”.

Nickname Backstory:

“Well JW are my initials, but I was given the name ‘Sasquatch’ at the first multiple day throw I ever went to in 2012. We were sitting around the campfire late on a dark Texas night telling stories and campfire tails and I decided to go pretend I was Bigfoot. So I snuck off and ran far enough out of the light, took off my shirt and did the Bigfoot walk until someone spotted me and yelled ‘hey look what the hell is that’! I grunted around, then snuck back to the campsite and sat down without anyone noticing, then someone said ‘maybe that was JW’? I said ‘how could it have been me, I'm right here’? No one was sure who it was but some swore it was me and I finally confessed”.

Advice To New Throwers:

“Go to a tournament and enjoy throwing, don't focus on how bad you think you are or how new you are. Everyone starts at the same place, we pick something up, we throw it and it sticks. Enjoy throwing. It is not just a competition, it is a unique sport like no other”.

Notable Achievements:

Outside the Aim Games, James has a long history of Fast Draw and Mountain Man victories.

Inside the Aim Games, he holds a two Superstar rank, earned first place in our first ever Aim Games competition called 'The Impossible Bullseye Challenge', and has had five additional top 10 placements from June 2017 to March 2019, including 3rd place in our first tomahawk and axe tournament 'H1'.
