As with all of our Aim Games Art Contest winners, Sarimo’s love for art and passion to pursue artistic creation has been lifelong. And, for him, loving art is a philosophy and way of living, “For me, art is not just about beauty, but also about conveying a message, reflecting on life, and being true to myself in my work. My interest in art grew from childhood and was further honed while studying at the Solo Fine Arts College. I was formally introduced to art while studying at SMSR Solo from 1998 to 2001 and continued my higher education from 2001 to 2006 at university, majoring in Fine Arts Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Solo State University, which further deepened my understanding of techniques, theories, and aesthetic values in art. From 2010 to 2017, I was active in the Sanggar Seni SALIRO arts community.”

His passion, and curiosity-driven perspective on artistic creation appropriately influences his use of mediums as well, “My favorite painting media include poster paint and acrylic paint on paper, but in my artistic journey, I have experimented with various mediums and themes, from two-dimensional works to more conceptual explorations of visual forms.”

Sarimo’s value in creative freedom reflects brightly in his sentiments towards all things art, certainly including the Aim Games Art Contests, “What I love most about the Aim Games art contest is the freedom of expression. The themes are challenging, but they also give participants the freedom to interpret the themes' meaning and choose the media for their work. For me, the Aim Games isn't just a competition, but a platform for fostering a shared creative spirit.”
